Now owned by Investis, Hemscott IR is a market-leading provider of online investor relations and corporate communications solutions.

I worked at Hemscott Investor Relations for a year after I left Espresso Education. Coming from a more design based role, this was the perfect place to get into development as web roles started to diverge in the mid noughties.

Probably not the most exiting place to work in terms of content, it did however provide for an excellent insight into technologies I’d never used before, namely Java Server Pages and version control.

I developed browser based web applications, Investor Relations tools and micro sites, implemented consistent design themes across corporate web sites. I worked extensively with data driven sites on large scale infrastructures using revision control and developed standards compliant, semantic code using progressive enhancement and graceful degradation: JSP, XML, XSLT
